The Tea on Pimple Popping.

We know, we know! It's so tempting. Especially after binge watching Dr Pimple Popper, right!! Like, if she can do it, why can't I? Ugh!

Well, though we hate to be the bearers of bad news we have to keep it real with you. You should definitely not be popping those pimples.

Keep reading for a few reasons why you shouldn’t be popping those pimples and what you can do instead!

Why Not Pop!

1. You could actually make the problem worse.
Popping those pimples can lead to infection and more acne on your precious skin. According to dermatologists, when you pop that pimple you could push the pus and the bacteria even further under your skin. This could mean additional inflammation and more friends for your solo pimple (hello additional acne, eek).

2. Scars!
Popping can lead to scarring. When we pop those pimples, we run the risk of exposing the inner layers of our skin to other irritants and bacteria. This leads to scarring that is sometimes even permanent.

3. You’re delaying the healing.
Our bodies are made so miraculously that most times they already know exactly what we need in order to heal. When we pop that pimple, we delay the natural healing process. Not popping can result in clearer skin faster than popping and then having to deal with the inflammation, redness and additional breakouts after popping.

Instead of Popping

1. Ice, Ice, Baby!
For inflammatory pimples, ice is your friend and your pimple’s enemy! Applying ice or a cold compress can help reduce the size of the pimple and in some cases can result in getting rid of the pimple completely. It can also help to reduce the redness of the pimple, making it less noticeable.

2. Charcoal

A good quality charcoal cleanser can help lift bacteria from the pores. The Purifying Detox Cleanser from lolabelle’s is a good option when it comes to reducing acne, detoxing the skin and improving the complexion of skin.

3. Dab!

Teehee, we don’t mean start dancing! A dab of benzoyl peroxide can begin killing bacteria on contact. These lovely tubes can be found in your local drugstore. These can be harsh and should be used sparingly. Overusing benzoyl peroxide can lead to irritated skin.

There you have it. Less popping! Give one of these alternatives a try and let us know how it goes.
